Generations

We Stopped by the farm that has been in Chuck’s family for generations this week. I had a tin of sweets to drop off And of course we always love a chance. On a farm, you expect to find people outdoors, even when they just a couple months shy of 90 years old. Sure enough, uncle was on his way to block a calf’s escape path.

He did not need a helping hand, but was grateful for some company and conversation. Our farm keeps us busy and we don’t even have livestock except for ducks and the dog. Life Is much busier when you have having season and hate to feed for your herd and such.
Whether 70 or 90, sitting still is not the inclination of anyone in this clan it seems!

Perhaps it is discipline and habit that keeps us moving throughout life and as we age. We don’t want to stop unless we slow down all. But, when we are young, it’s a different story. Last week, visiting my granddaughter, her perpetual motion was fun and fueled by curiosity, learning and raw energy. Maybe they are really the same thing – joy found in the simple things in life like fresh air and purpose to our days.
