Odd Dog

Farm dog protectors run the risk of getting injured as they chase off predators. Tough stubs in the fields can cut paws in an instant and our boy found that out the hard way this week. Chasing off coyotes the other night he gashed open his paw. He let us clean, treat and wrap it and the next day he visited the vet.

The vet clipped the flap and rewrapped it before prescribing antibiotics as a precaution. The amazing thing is the this bot who bravely faces off with any predator, who is not a fan of riding in the truck, and who is the sweetest snuggle dog to us his pack. somehow seemed to understand that he should not tear the bandage off his foot. No cone needed. He has kept the bandage on without complaint and eagerly returned to his guard stations around the house and shop.

He is an odd dog in all the best ways. His paw will be better in no time and I can’t wait to get back in our daily long walk routine.
