Relief

The chicks were a little quicker into the coop tonight maybe because of the heat lamp’s roses glow or perhaps because I bribe them with cottage cheese! The heatwave finally broke and they seemed to hunt crickets a bit more today in the cooler air. It was still 85 degrees, but compared to the hundreds, it felt more like a fall chill! I picked okra and tomatoes and canned some more sauce.

Our biggest hope is that a week of cooler nights will chill the lake sone! It was like swimming in a hot tub yesterday! I was glad when it was my turn to paddle because the air was better than the water.
