Tom and the Girls

We have been hearing the Tom turkeys gobbling in the woods for the past few weeks. And then, there they were. Yesterday in the late afternoon, not far from where we often see a small flock of hens; there were three Tom turkeys strutting their stuff. I’m not sure how they knew we were a hunt safe zone, although maybe in the heat of the moment they cared more about their feathered competition than someone hidden in a hunt blind. The best part of this little display however is knowing that our turkey population is strong. With this little crowd and a flock of chicks after them, we will have plenty more gobblers in the woods around here!
