Tending flock and pack

This weekend we had some tending to do. I noticed a chicken not feeling good and we had to separate her and nurse her. Sadly, she didn’t make it and so we had to check the others and clean the coop, all the while a sad to lose a sweet one of our chicklets. Then, today the care shifted to canine version. Chuck plucked a big thorn buried deep in Botto’s paw. He flinched but didn’t make a sound, knowing that we are his caretakers. He settled in to be treated and will be grateful for a pain free paw in a day or two. Farm life is not for softies but does require a soft touch and caring heart.
